ISD Gets New Organisational Structure

The Minister for Information, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has unveiled a new organizational structure for the Information Services Department (ISD) to ensure efficient service delivery.

This includes the creation of several new roles and teams to focus on specific service areas.

In an address at the ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, Oppong Nkrumah stated that for the past two years, the Ministry, in conjunction with the Management Services Division (MDS) of the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS), has collaborated with the ISD to restructure and form a new organizational plan.

“The Ministry has also been working with the ISD to pilot the new functions under the new structure,” he added.

He noted that the pilot phase of retooling for the divisions and units at the Head Office has been completed to complement the new organizational structure, adding that the consultants responsible for the final phase have completed their tasks and would soon submit their reports for the second phase of the retooling to commence.

The Minister announced that, as part of efforts to make the Public Education Coordinating Division of the Department effective, the Ministry is working towards procuring New Cinema vans for the Department, adding that the first set of the vans would be delivered this year.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah expressed the hope that the new organizational structure, coupled with the retooling of divisions, would enable the staff of the ISD to deliver on their mandate in the face of the new dynamics in the information marketplace.

He urged the staff to embrace the training that comes with the new focus and structure.

“I urge staff to put the new logistics to the best use when you receive yours, take the best care of it so that together we get ISD at the forefront even in this new era,” he noted.

The Acting Chief Information Officer of ISD, Mr David Owusu-Amoah, commended the Management Service Department for developing the organizational structure.

He called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) as well as the private sector to employ the services of ISD for all their communication matters.
