Stimulate Africa Trains Youth in Community Work

Stimulate Africa, a non-governmental organization, has conducted an empowering training program aimed at building the capacity of youth for community engagements.

The training took place during the week and targeted young men and women, envisioning them as future social workers and change agents within their communities.

The training which lasted for a day and made possible with support from Tostan, a Senegal-based organisation, focused on a range of topics relevant to community work.

Maureen Ngozi Chukwurah, head of Stimulate Africa delivered interactive sessions on various skills including leadership, effective communication, problem-solving and community development strategies.

The participants who hailed from diverse backgrounds and shared a common passion for community service received hands-on practical training through engaging activities and role-playing exercises.

They were encouraged to identify problems within their communities and develop innovative solutions to address them effectively.

“The purpose of this training program was to equip these young individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to become catalysts for positive change in their communities,” said Maureen Ngozi Chukwurah.

The training provided an excellent platform for the participants to share personal experiences and connect with like-minded individuals.

Meaningful discussions and group activities allowed them to exchange ideas, gain insights and form collaborative networks that will prove valuable in their future endeavors.

The facilitator emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to community work, stressing the need to consider factors such as gender equality, environmental sustainability and the socioeconomic challenges faced by marginalized groups.

The participants were encouraged to develop community-led initiatives fostering inclusive participation and empowering individuals to take ownership of their own development.

Speaking about the training, a participant, Baba Iddrisu, expressed her gratitude to Stimulate Africa for organizing such a valuable program.

He said he was inspired, describing the training as an amazing opportunity to learn and network with others who share the same passion for community work as him.
