NEDCo Reverses Wrongful Power Deductions

The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) has announced its resolution of December 2023 tariff implementation challenges.

These challenges which included wrongful deductions of electricity tariffs have been successfully reversed and the affected customers have had their power paid back to them.

“Management is pleased to formally announce to the general public, especially its cherished customers, that all wrongful deductions have been successfully reversed and affected customers, appropriately credited,” the power distributor said in a statement.

NEDCO siad the wrongful deductions were occasioned following challenges encountered in the implementation December 2023 tariffs as approved and announced by the Public Utility and Regulatory Commission.

The reversal, according to the power company, is in two forms – direct reversal of the wrongful deductions on the meters of the affected customers as well as credit of the accounts/wallets of the affected customers in the billing system and not directly on their meters with the relevant amount.

The reversal are explained as follows

1. Direct reversal of the wrongful deductions on the meters of the affected customers-the existing balances on the meters used by these customers have been enhanced/credited with the relevant amounts (I.e., the wrongfully deducted amounts). These can be checked directly on the meters.

2. Crediting of the accounts/wallets of the affected customers in the billing system (and not directly on their meters) with the relevant amounts (ie, the wrongfully deducted amounts). These can be accessed or benefited from by the customers at their next purchase of power or by triggering a zero purchase at any vending point.”

Customers who still have challenges despite the reversal are advised therefore to contact the nearest NEDCo outlet or visit the head office to have his issues addressed.
