YENDI: Youth Group Appeals For Passport Office in Meeting With GIS Boss

The leadership of the Concerned Citizens of Yendi have met the Comptroller General of the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi Esq, and used the occasion to push for the establishment of a Passport Office in Yendi.

The meeting took place at the Office of the Ghana Immigration Service in Yendi following an official visit of the Comptroller General to the ancient city.

The CCY advocated that the Yendi Municipality was the centre of the Eastern Corridor enclave of the Northern Region and serves over ten districts with a population of approximately 1.2 million.

The also said the upgrading of the Tamale Airport to an International Airport coupled with the increasing population of the Eastern Corridor and the long distance travel to Tamale necessitated the need for the passport office in Yendi to serve the Eastern Corridor.

CCY also presented a beautiful smock to the Comptroller General to show the citizens’ appreciation to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the Sector Commander, and his team for the excellent work done over the years.

He seized the moment to express his office’s appreciation to CCY for acknowledging, recognizing and awarding the Sector Commander for his distinguished service to Yendi and Dagbon during the 3rd Edition of the CCY Citizens Honour of Excellence and Selfless Service Awards, 2024.

Prior to the meeting, the Comptroller General and his team paid a courtesy call on HRM N’dan Ya-Na Abukari II to seek his blessings before embarking on his tour of the region.

The Gbewaa Palace also dressed the Comptroller General with a green-yellow smock to the admiration of the team. The Comptroller advised CCY on the steps to take in connection with the proposal for the Passport Office in Yendi, with an assurance that he would be of assistance in the process.
