Tamale Journalist Beaters Freed on Paltry GhC 3,600 Fine

NDC former Deputy Communications Director and his accomplice who attacked a Dagbon FM journalist during a live broadcast have been freed by a court in Tamale.

Hardi Pagazaa and Mumuni Osman who were arrested on Monday following days of manhunt by the police appeared the District Court of Tamale and pleaded guilty to all four counts of; conspiracy to commit a crime to wit assault, assault, unlawful entry, and threat of death.

The count of threat of death was later withdrawn as defence lawyer Halid Rauf prayed the court for no custodial sentence.
The court subsequently sentenced the accused persons to a fine of 300 penalty units.In monetary terms, that is 3,600 Cedis each or in default, serve 18 months in prison.
The two, Hardi Pagazaa and Mumuni Osman have since paid the fine and have been released according to their lawyer Halid Rauf.
Hardi Pagazaa and his accomplice, a week ago, stormed the premises of Tamale-based Dagbon FM to manhandle presenter, Abubakari Sadik Gariba, who was presiding over a live radio programme.
