UDS To Establish Committee To Investigate Collapsed Building
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan has announced that Management is set to form a committee to investigate the collapse of the six-storey building at the city campus.
The Vice Chancellor made this announcement during a visit by the Management Team of the University to the site.
The building, which was under construction, collapsed on the night of Saturday, May 6, 2023, after a heavy downpour.
It was intended to serve as lecture halls for students upon completion.
The Vice-Chancellor intimated that an audit of the other six-storey building which is still standing, would be conducted to ensure its structural integrity.
Prof. Seidu Al-hassan who led the team to inspect the site, said there are “many lessons to learn” from the collapse of the building, adding that the Management team would take “steps in a determined way” after the investigators complete their work.
When the committee is inaugurated, it will have up to a month to present its report to Management.
