Redeem Your Pledge Before We Will Register To Vote, Kanuldo Residents Tell Farouk Aliu Mahama
The people of Kanuldoo in the Yendi Constituency of the Northern Region have sent a word to their MP that they will not be partaking in the ongoing limited registration exercise by the Electoral Commission unless he fulfills the pledges he made to them prior to election 2020.
The residents say Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama, during a campaign tour to the area promised to connect the community to the National grid in just three days if he wins the election.
He however has not honour his pledge three years since becoming MP, prompting community leaders to reject his emissaries of who were in the community recently to rally the people to travel to Yendi to take part in the registration exercise.
Youth leader, Bimoar Francis, in an interview indicated the youth of the community will resist any move to compel them to join the registration exercise until Hon Farouk Aliu Mahama redeems his promise by supplying the community with electricity.
Kanuldo, a Kokomba settlement in the Yendi Municipality has been without electricity for ages. A situation that has disrupted their economic and social lives as they are sometimes forced to travel to communities afar to patronise services powered by electricity.
Before 2016, an electric transformer was installed and poles erected but a change of government disrupted plans to connect the community to electricity and the people have since been living in darkness.
Great move
