Government Launches CREATE Initiative to Empower Content Creators

Government through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has launched the CREATE Initiative in Tamale to equip young Ghanaians with digital content creation skills and improve their participation in the digital economy.
The initiative, under the Ghana Women and Youth Employment and Social Cohesion (GWYESCO) Programme, will strengthen the technical skills, professionalism and ethical standards of content creators while creating opportunities for sustainable employment and income generation.
The event launched in the Northern Regional Capital was attended by scores of content creators and influencers, traditional rulers and political representatives including the regional Minister as well as the Mayor of Tamale,
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NEIP, Lawyer Joan Selasie Ahiawordor who led the launch said the programme was designed to address barriers that prevent young people from translating their creativity and innovative ideas into sustainable economic opportunities.
According to her, participants would receive training to improve the technical quality of their content, communicate effectively across digital platforms, build professional brands and create content that meets the needs of communities and commercial partners.
Joan Selasie emphasised the need for content creators to uphold professional and ethical standards, particularly in an era where misinformation and irresponsible online publications can harm individuals, businesses and communities.
“Integrity and credibility are the true currency of the digital ecosystem,” he stressed, urging creators to respect privacy, avoid misinformation and protect intellectual property.
The GWYESCO Programme covers seven regions: Northern, Savannah, Upper West, North East, Upper East, Eastern and Central.
While CREATE focuses on digital skills development for content creators, the complementary EMPOWED initiative will provide practical business development training and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for women and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The EMPOWED initiative is expected to be launched in Bolgatanga.
The NEIP Deputy Chief Executive Officer called on participants to approach the training with discipline, dedication and a willingness to learn, describing creativity as an economic asset that could become a pathway to sustainable employment and financial independence.
She also urged journalists, bloggers and online commentators to support the initiative by raising awareness, sharing accurate information and highlighting success stories from the programme.
The initiative is being supported by the Government of Ghana, the Ministry of Finance, the Social Investment Fund (SIF) and the African Development Bank (AfDB), alongside implementing partners and local stakeholders.
