Former Finance Minister Commissions Six-Unit Classroom Block for Al-Markaziya

The Member of Parliament for Karaga, Mohammed Amin Adam, has commissioned a new one-storey, six-classroom block for Al-Markaziya Islamic Primary School in Tamale.
The newly constructed facility includes modern classrooms, washrooms, a staff common room, and a headmaster’s office, aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions at the school.
Although the MP is currently in the United States attending the 2026 Spring meetings with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in his capacity as Ranking Member of Parliament’s Finance Committee, the project was officially handed over on his behalf by his aide, Alhaji Halim Tikumah, at a brief ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Alhaji Tikumah noted that Dr. Amin Adam received his formative Islamic education at Al-Markaziya, and described the gesture as a way of giving back to his alma mater.
He emphasized the MP’s commitment to investing in education, describing it as the most effective means of securing the future of younger generations.
He further appealed to school authorities and Islamic scholars (Ulamah) to continue offering prayers for Dr. Amin Adam, adding that greater development projects could be expected if he continues to receive support.

The headmistress of the school, Mrs. Abiba Asoma, speaking on behalf of the authorities, expressed gratitude for the facility and assured that it would be properly maintained to benefit future generations. She also appealed for the provision of computers to enhance ICT education in the school.
In response, Alhaji Halim Tikumah, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Tiksham Construction, pledged to personally provide the requested computers.

Also present at the ceremony was Eleanor Apanga, Circuit Supervisor for the Zogbeli Circuit, who represented the Metropolitan Director of Education.
She commended Dr. Amin Adam for his continued support to education but noted that the directorate would continue to seek additional assistance to address the growing needs of schools in the area.
