N/R: Fire Service Commander Retires After More Than Three Decades of Service
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has bid farewell to Assistant Chief Fire Officer Grade Two (ACFOII), Jacob A. Hagan, after 33 years of service to the nation.
Throughout his career, ACFOII Hagan served in various capacities, including Regional Accountant and Second-in-Command, before eventually assuming the role of Regional Commander for a month ahead of his retirement.
In line with GNFS regulations, senior officers who attain the rank of ACFOII and above are accorded a formal pull-out ceremony upon retirement.
The colorful event took place at the Northern Regional Headquarters in Tamale and was graced by the Northern Regional Minister, the Savannah Regional Fire Service Commander, and several heads of security agencies.
Delivering his farewell message, the veteran officer, affectionately called Senior by his officers, expressed gratitude to colleague officers, friends, and family for their support throughout his journey. He urged young officers to remain respectful, obedient, and disciplined, stressing that such values were key to progressing in the Service.
In a tribute on behalf of the Chief Fire Officer, the Northern Regional Fire Commander, ACFOI Joseph Koranteng, hailed the retiree as a mentor and trailblazer.
“You have mentored countless firefighters, fostering a culture of teamwork, respect, and unwavering dedication within the Service,” ACFOI Koranteng said.
He described Hagan not only as a dependable officer but also as a friend and a pillar of support to the Command.
“Your dedication, expertise, and passion have been the driving force behind our success, and your presence will be greatly missed for the indelible mark you have left in our hearts,” he added.
ACFOI Koranteng thanked the retiree for his selfless service to Ghana and wished him well in his future endeavors, assuring him that his legacy would continue to inspire the Service.
