Former DCE’s Boy Declares Savanna Region NPP Communications Director Bid
Ridwan Afeso Abubakari, the Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Savanna Region, has declared his intention to contest for the position of Regional Communications Director in the party’s upcoming regional executive elections.
Ridwan, who also serves as the Communications Director for the NPP Youth Wing in the region, made the announcement on Tuesday in a newly created WhatsApp group he established to mobilize support for his campaign.
In his message to members of the platform, Ridwan apologized to those he could not contact personally before adding them to the group, explaining that his action was born out of trust and a shared belief in the collective growth of the NPP in the Savanna Region.
He wrote:“I wish to warmly welcome all of you to this family platform meant to offer strategic support to the course of my running for office of the NPP SR Communications Director.
As courtesy demands, let me take the opportunity to formally inform you that, God willing, I will be contesting the regional elections of the NPP SR for the office of Regional Communications Director. I am seeking your prayers, support, guidance, and help in winning more delegates to my side.”
The contest for the Communications Director position comes after the NPP, at its recent annual delegates conference, introduced key reforms, including making the position an electable one rather than an appointed role.
Ridwan, an Aide to former the District Chief Executive for North Gonja, Hon. Adam Eliasu Red Bawa, is currently the only person to have publicly declared his intention to run for the position.
It remains to be seen whether other contenders will emerge in the coming days as the party gears up for its regional executive elections.
