The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has inaugurated a new governing board for the National Communications Authority (NCA), with a call on members to accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation and restore the nation’s leadership position in Africa’s telecommunications sector.

Among the newly-inaugurated Board is Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Dr. Mahama Seth Sayibu.

His appointment adds strong academic and research expertise to the Authority’s work, particularly in communication policy, media regulation, and digital governance.

The board, inaugurated in Accra by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), is chaired by Mrs. Mavis Araba Ampah, the first woman to hold the position.

Other members of the board include Rev. Ing. Edmund Y. Fianko (Acting Director General of the NCA), Hon. Mohammed Adams Sukparu (Deputy Minister, MoCDTI), Dr. George Atta-Boateng, Mr. George Sarpong, Dr. Augustina Odame, Dr. Selaise Agyinasare, and Madam Barbara Serwaa Asamoah.

Inaugurating the board, Hon. George urged members to accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation and help position the country for 5G deployment, improved internet quality, and enhanced user experience.

He noted that the NCA board was the last to be constituted under the new administration and would play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s digital future.
