Adwoa Safo Refutes Insight Newspaper Report on Alleged Shift of Support from Bawumia to Kennedy

Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, has vehemently denied claims published by The Insight Newspaper alleging that she has switched her political allegiance from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, October 15, 2025, the former MP described the publication as “false, misleading, and maliciously fabricated” with the intent to create confusion within the campaign of Dr. Bawumia and sow disunity among members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“I wish to categorically and unequivocally deny this claim… At no point in time have I made any statement, whether on record, in private conversation, or on any public platform, suggesting that I have withdrawn my support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” she stated.
According to Adwoa Safo, she remains “firmly loyal” to Dr. Bawumia, praising his leadership qualities, humility, competence, and resilience.
She expressed confidence that the NPP leader remains the best person to lead the party into the 2028 general elections and return it to power. The former MP further cautioned the media, particularly The Insight Newspaper, against publishing unverified reports that could harm reputations and distort public perception.
She urged the outlet to retract the publication and issue an unqualified apology.
“The unity and progress of the NPP remain paramount, and I continue to pledge my unflinching support to Dr. Bawumia and to every effort aimed at consolidating the party’s base,” she added.
Hon. Adwoa Safo’s rebuttal comes amid ongoing discussions within the NPP about post-election unity and leadership direction following the party’s 2024 electoral loss.
