Amin Adam Confirms Third Term Karaga Bid
The Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has confirmed he will contest the parliamentary seat again in the 2028 general elections, ending speculation about his political future.
The announcement marks a reversal of his earlier position that he would serve only two terms in Parliament and would not seek another mandate after completing his current term in 2028.
Dr Amin Adam, who was first elected in 2020 and retained the seat in 2024, had months ago indicated that he would not extend his parliamentary career beyond two terms.

His decision sparked appeals from traditional rulers, elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and constituents, who urged him to reconsider and seek re-election.
The latest appeal reportedly came from newly-elected NPP National Chairman, John Boadu, who warned that the party risks losing the Karaga seat to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) if Dr Amin Adam did not contest again.
Speaking at the finals of the Tumalana Communities Football Tournament in Karaga on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the former Deputy Energy Minister said extensive consultations with party elders and constituency executives had influenced his decision.

“When I came to contest in 2020, I told you I wanted two terms, but after my party’s council of elders and Constituency Executives have given me the greenlight to go again, I am saying to you wholeheartedly that I will be contesting election 2028,” he told an enthusiastic crowd.
He said despite the numerous development interventions he had spearheaded in the constituency, he believed there was still unfinished business and appealed to constituents to maintain their support for him.

Dr Amin Adam expressed confidence that continued support from the people would secure him a resounding victory in 2028, enabling him to pursue additional development projects.
The announcement was made during the final of the Tumalana Football Tournament, an initiative sponsored by the MP to promote peace, unity and social cohesion among communities in the Karaga area.
The tournament, which began two months ago, climaxed with Pishigu and Nyong competing for the ultimate trophy.

Pishigu emerged champions after scoring twice, with a goal in each half, to defeat Nyong and lift the trophy. The winning community received a cash prize of GH¢200,000, while Nyong received GH¢10,000 as consolation.
