N/R: Alan Campaign in Tatters As Vociferous Campaigner Joins Bawumia’s Camp

It appears the Alan Campaign in the Northern region may not survive to put up a contest at the NPP’s Presidential primaries in November as more influential members continue to leave for rival groups.

The latest member of the North for Alan team to switch camp is popular serial caller, Mohammed Somgurum, who has confirmed he is no longer a supporter of the former Minister of Trade and Industry.

Following a meeting in Accra with Lawyer Yussif Akbar, aide of the Vice President, Mohammed Somgurum, declared his unflinching support to Dr. Bawumia’s presidential bid and pledged to do all he can to ensure the former deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana wins the primaries and eventually the main elections in 2024 to lead the country.

It is unclear what could have prompted his sudden change of heart but the Alan campaign in the Northern region has been hit with such departures in the last months as the team battles leadership struggles and controversies surrounding the disappearances and misappropriation of campaign funds.

As a result of the leadership struggle, Ishmael Yahuza, a high profile Alan loyalist and instrumental figure in forming the North for Alan group has been sidelined as his position as head of the group has since been to Hajj Abdallah Hindu.

He has had to, in time past, deny media reports of also switching camps, but sources closer to him believe it is only a matter of time before he declares his support for the Vice President.

Others who have deserted have the cited bullying tactics adopted by the current leadership of the Alan Kyeremanteng’s Campaign as reasons for their departure.

Alhaji Hindu and Abdul Mumin COP are thought to have adopted “obey or leave” strategy in their dealings with members in order to cement their own positions and to continue to win favours from Hon. Alan Kyeremanteng.

Mohammed Somgurum may have left because of this reason.
