NPP Opens Nomination For Parliamentary Primaries In Orphan Constituencies

In a bid to prepare for the 2024 general elections, the NPP has officially opened nominations for its parliamentary primaries in constituencies where the party has no sitting Members of Parliament.

This move is aimed at allowing aspiring candidates within the party to officially declare their interest in contesting for parliamentary candidates position.

Aspirants have from today, [Tuesday, July 11] until [August 10, 2023] to pick the nomination forms, fill and submit them along with required supporting documents and nominations fees at the party’s constituency offices.

For persons who are interested but are finding it difficult to access the forms are to seek them at their respective regional Secretariats or even at the National Secretariat.

The governing party recognizes the importance of robust internal party elections to select qualified and competent candidates who will represent the party and as such has indicated the nomination process will be transparent and fair with equal opportunities given to all qualified individuals.

Aspiring parliamentary candidates will need to meet the party’s eligibility criteria which include holding party membership for a specific period displaying a strong commitment to the goals and values of the NPP and demonstrating a track record of service to their communities.

The primaries expected to take place across 137 constituencies later this year is the first phase in the party’s reorganization effort in the Parliamentary front. The second phase is expected in February 2024 where the primaries will be conducted in constituencies the party has sitting lawmakers.
