NDC Disowns Woman-Beater Vice Chairman, Suspends Him For Three Months

The National Democratic Congress has suspended its Northern Regional Vice Chairman for three months following his alleged brutal assault of Hajia Shamima, a regional treasurer of the party.
The decision to suspend Abdul Hamid Alhassan, Known popularly as Gbewaa, was reached at a Functional Executive Meeting in which the Northern Regional Chairman and Secretary participated.
In a letter addressed to the embattled Vice Chairman, the party said his suspension has been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for further investigations and adjudication.
Chairman Gbewaa reportedly pounced on his victim, Hajia Shamima, following a disagreement at a meeting to discuss strategies for election 2024.
The helpless treasurer at the end of the attack suffered facial injuries with blood all over her face.
The Chairman was arraigned before a court in Tamale on Tuesday[January 16] assault. He was granted bail to reappear in court at a later date.
