Yendi Water Project Is Top of My Priorities – Finance Minister
The newly-appointed Finance Minister of Ghana, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has assured the King of Dagbang and the people of Yendi of his commitment to prioritize the long-stalled Yendi Water Project.
The Project, whose symbolic sod-cutting ceremony took place four years ago, stalled due to the lack of funds and Dr. Amin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Karaga, disclosed that the government recognizes the project’s significance to the people and has made it a top priority.
He disclosed that just yesterday, Vice President, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, met him over the stalled project and tasked him with the responsibility to mobilize the necessary resources to resume and complete the crucial water initiative.
Dr. Amin made this assurance during a courtesy call on the King, Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II at Gbewaa Palace in Yendi. The aim of the visit by the minister was to introduce himself formally to the King as the country’s new Finance Minister and seek his blessings as he[Dr. Amin] prepares to assume his new office on Monday, February 19, 2024.
In a Speech, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II expressed confidence in the abilities of the new Finance Minister. He however emphasized the importance of fairness and equal opportunities for all individuals seeking to benefit from the minister’s office.
The King highlighted the expectations of the people in the region and emphasized the need for Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam to dedicate his tenure to serving the people diligently.
“My son, let me remind you again as you take on the responsibility of your new office, you should bear in mind that the people you represent, especially your constituents, are looking up to you with renewed hope. So, I pray that your leadership will be marked with a deep sense of purpose and a resolute pledge to serve the common good of our constituency, region and the nation as a whole,” Yaa Naa Abukari said.
Accompanying Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam to the Gbewaa Palace were several notable figures, including the Northern Regional Minister, Saani Alhassan Shaibu; Deputy Minister for Transport and MP for Gushegu, Hon. Alhassan Tampuli; MP for Mion, Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba; Hon. Habib Iddrisu; MP for Tolon, and Deputy Majority Chief Whip and Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mohammed Bantima Samba.
