Tamale Mayor Gives Dagbon FM and Sadi Gariba 48 Hours to Apologize for Alleged Defamatory

Dagbon 102.5 FM and its Presenter, Sadi Gariba, have been issued a 48-hour ultimatum to retract and apologise for an alleged defamatory statement broadcast about the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Adam Abubakari Takoro.

The directive, contained in a legal notice dated 20th November 2025 and signed by Accord Law Consult, accuses the station of airing an unverified and false claim during its “Ban Bo Yeligu” programme.

Sadi Gariba and a guest who appeared on the show on the said date made the allege defamatory comment which indicated that an aide to the Mayor collected money from traders after a decongestion exercise.

The lawyers state that the claim is entirely false and accuse the station of compounding the issue by reposting the allegation on its Facebook page, where it was viewed by more than two million people.

According to the notice, the broadcast and repost have seriously damaged the reputation of the MCE and the Assembly.

The station has been instructed to retract the allegation and issue an unqualified apology, giving both the same level of publicity as the original broadcast and Facebook post.

Failure to comply within the 48-hour deadline, the notice warns, will result in immediate legal action seeking damages and other remedies.

Meanwhile, the programme host at the centre of the controversy, Sadi Gariba, known on Facebook as Abubakari Sadiq, has reacted to the development.

In a short post made shortly after the story went public, he wrote: “This is just the beginning.”
