Mother of Three Graduates with BSc Midwifery from UDS, Son Celebrates Her Journey

A mother of three has defied the odds to graduate with a Bachelor of Science honours in Midwifery from the University for Development Studies (UDS), inspiring hundreds online after her son, Dr. Iddi Mohammed Faried, paid tribute to her on Social Media.
Dr. Faried, who is the founder of Kodu Tech, a company that makes sanitary products of Banana fibres, shared an emotional message celebrating his mother’s resilience, sacrifice, and determination.
According to him, Mrs. Sherifatu Yahaya Iddi devoted her entire life to raising her sons and ensuring they each had access to quality education before returning to pursue her own dream.
He revealed that she raised three boys, one now a medical laboratory scientist, another a final-year Doctor of Pharmacy student, and the youngest in his fourth year of medical school. Only after securing their future did she go back to chase her own academic ambitions.
“She poured everything into us first. Only after lifting us, she went back to chase her own dream. That kind of heart is rare,” Dr. Faried wrote.
Dr. Faried also used the occasion to encourage other mothers who may feel they have run out of time to pursue their aspirations.
“To mothers who feel like time has passed: it hasn’t. You can still go after what you want. My mother is the proof,” he noted.
