Two UDS Journalism Students Win 2nd Edition of Anas Aremeyaw Anas Excellence Award

Two students from the Department of Journalism at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Nyankpala Campus, have emerged winners of the second edition of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas Excellence Award, an initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of ethical and impactful journalists in Northern Ghana.
Mr. Fuseini Dawuda Niendoo was adjudged Outstanding Student Journalist of the Year, while Mr. Ibrahim Angaangmeni Alhassan was named Most Promising Student Journalist of the Year.
The award scheme, instituted by internationally acclaimed undercover investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, forms part of a strategic partnership between UDS and Tiger Eye PI to enhance journalism training at the university.
Through this collaboration, Anas has committed to supporting the Department of Journalism to establish a modern multimedia studio, deliver guest lectures on investigative journalism, and facilitate interactions between UDS students and globally recognised journalists from networks such as the BBC, CNN, and Al Jazeera.
For their prizes, Fuseini Dawuda Niendoo received GHS 3,000 and a citation, while Ibrahim Angaangmeni Alhassan took home GHS 2,000 and a citation.
Sponsored by Tiger Eye PI, the award scheme is expected to run for the next 12 years, helping to promote excellence, professionalism, and high ethical standards in journalism across the Northern Region and beyond.
