Skills Key to Tackling Unemployment – NEIP Coordinator

A regional Coordinator for National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme has underscored the critical role of skills development and entrepreneurship in addressing youth unemployment and promoting sustainable community development.

Speaking on behalf of the CEO Elidel Foundation at the graduation ceremony of the Tamale Skills and Entrepreneurship Training Programme, Mr. Seidu Abdul Gafaru Kanayo, said empowering young people with practical skills remains one of the most effective ways of creating employment opportunities and reducing poverty.

The event marked the graduation of 40 young women who completed the Tamale Skills and Entrepreneurship Training Programme, an initiative facilitated by the Elidel and Yumzaa Foundations with funding support from GIZ.

Twenty of the beneficiaries received training in soap making, while the remaining 20 were trained in batik, tie and dye production.

The NEIP Official described the graduation as more than a celebration of completed training, saying it marked the beginning of greater opportunities for the beneficiaries.

“At Elidel, we believe that skills and entrepreneurship are powerful tools for reducing unemployment, creating opportunities and transforming communities. Today’s graduation is not the end of your journey but the beginning of greater possibilities,” he stated.

Mr Kanayo urged the graduates to put into practice the knowledge and skills they had acquired over the past four months, remain disciplined and continue learning in order to become job creators rather than job seekers.

He further expressed appreciation to the trainers, development partners and supporters whose contributions ensured the successful implementation of the programme.

Some of the graduates shared testimonies during the ceremony, expressing appreciation to the organisers for equipping them with practical skills to improve their livelihoods. They pledged to establish businesses and use their newly acquired knowledge to support their families and contribute to the development of their communities.

The Event brought together officials from Yumzaa Foundation, Elidel Foundation and GIZ, alongside trainers, family members and other stakeholders, with beneficiaries displaying products they produced during the training.
