Bawumia Takes Campaign Tour to His Home Region
Report: Iddrisu Kumbundoo

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to embark on a constituency-level campaign tour of the North East Region as part of his bid for re-election as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections.
A formal notice issued on December 4, 2025, by the National Campaign Coordinating Team (NCCT) and signed by Campaign Manager Frederick Opare Ansah, notified the NPP North East Regional Chairman of the impending tour.
The communication follows the party’s directive requiring all campaign teams to formally submit their itineraries to regional offices to ensure effective coordination.
According to the letter, Dr. Bawumia’s tour will begin on Wednesday, December 10, and continue through Thursday, December 11, 2025, with a final round of engagements scheduled for Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The tour is aimed at deepening interaction with party structures, delegates, and grassroots supporters across the region.

The regional leadership has been requested to coordinate arrangements with constituencies to ensure smooth organisation of activities, facilitate security arrangements with both regional and constituency security officers, and confirm that the proposed itinerary does not clash with campaign events of other presidential aspirants.
The tentative schedule attached to the communication includes stops in the Chereponi, Bunkpurugu, Yunyoo, Nalerigu-Gambaga, and Walewale constituencies.
The NCCT expressed gratitude to the regional executives for their ongoing cooperation and urged them to alert the campaign team to any logistical or security issues ahead of Dr. Bawumia’s arrival.
The North East tour marks another major step in Dr. Bawumia’s internal campaign as he intensifies efforts to secure the NPP’s presidential ticket for the 2028 elections.
