UDS in Egypt to Defend FASU Football Title

The University for Development Studies (UDS) football team have arrived in Cairo, Egypt, to compete in the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games, with the team aiming to retain its football title.

The Developers are the reigning FASU football champions after defeating the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in the 11th edition, two years ago.

Their triumph earned them the opportunity to represent Ghana and Africa at the FISU World University Football Championship in China, where they went on to make history as world champions in 2025.

The FASU Games are being held in Cairo, Egypt, and are hosted by Cairo University with support from the American University in Cairo and the British University in Cairo. The competition has attracted more than 50 universities from over 20 African countries.

The Games feature 18 competitive sporting disciplines, including football, athletics, basketball, swimming, combat sports and tennis, providing a major platform for university athletes across the continent to compete and showcase their talents.

With another major challenge ahead, the UDS squad are determined to build on its success and bring the FASU football trophy back home.
