TAMALE: DVLA To Clamp Down On Drivers With License Irregularities

All road users are to take note that from May 1, 2023, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority will begin clamping down on vehicles of drivers who have one irregularity or the other with their licenses.
The exercise which is in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation 47, 158 of LI2180 of 2012 will rid the roads and highways of unqualified drivers thereby enhancing safety. It will also help in the Authority’s revenue mobilisation drive.

The Authority in the course of the exercise will impound vehicles of drivers with various infractions including driving without original license, driving with no license at all, driving with expired license, driving with photocopied license, driving with fake license and driving with wrong class of license.
“Note that the Authority will not permit any of these infractions any longer from May 1, 2023,” a letter signed by Abdulai Mutawakilu, Northern Regional Manager of the Authority declared.
Vehicles belonging or registered with number plates of the various security agencies are however exempted from this exercise.
