NDA Boss Concludes Working Tour of Northeast Region

The Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Sulley Sambian, has ended a two-day working of the of the North East Region.

The tour was to see at first hand the status of projects rolled out under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), and also to explain the mandate of NDA to the Chiefs and people of the region.

The IPEP is a special Government flagship programme aimed at prioritizing the development of communities with the allocation of One Million Dollars per Constituency to fund selected projects.

Lawyer Sulley Sambian started his tour with a courtesy call on the North East Regional Minister, Hon. Yidana Zakaria at his office in Nalerigu before participating in a forum put together by the Regional Coordinating Council and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).

The CEO and his team continued to the respective Palaces of the Chiefs of Nakpanduri, Najong No. 1, Jilik and Nanik where he interacted with the Chiefs and their subjects, and also inspected both on-going and completed IPEP projects.

In Nakpanduri, The CEO and his team accompanied by school authorities inspected progress of work on three (3) and six (6) unit classroom blocks been built by NDA which are at various stages of completion at the Nakpanduri Business Senior High School, where sadly, one of the main Girls dormitory was recently gutted by fire.


He sympathized with the Management and affected students and assured that NDA will rehabilitate the dormitory and fast track the completion of the class room blocks so as to alleviate their suffering and enhance teaching and learning in the school.

A total of 181 projects were awarded by both the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives and the Northern Development Authority. Out of these, 99 projects representing 54.7% have since been completed.

In the Bunkpurugu area, 11 out of 21 projects were completed between 2017 and 2022 by the Northern Development Authority and the Ministry for Special Development Initiatives.
