NDA Signs Vocational Education Training MOU With British Council


The Northern Development Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Council to allow for the implementation of an EU-funded project known as the VET Toolbox.

The project aims to support demand-driven and inclusive Vocational Education and Training (VET) and cater for investment needs through targeted skills development and VET programmes.

Chief Executive Officer, Lawyer Sulley Sambian, represented the NDA while the British Council was represented by the Country Director, Nii Doodo Dodoo in Tamale with respect to the VET Toolbox II project which was launched in Tamale in March this year by The British Council, NDA and other partners.

Speaking after the signing, the CEO said the VET toolbox ll is designed to equip indigenes of Northern Ghana with Agri TVET skills, as part of a holistic effort to increase agricultural productivity, foster job creation and ultimately improve livelihoods across three regions within the NDA Zone.
On behalf of the Board and Management of the Northern Development Authority, the CEO extended his appreciation to the British Council, the technical team and all stakeholders associated with the project for working assiduously towards a speedy advancement of all the preliminary processes.

He said the emphasis on TVET has evolved as one of Government’s flagship policies to create decent jobs for the youth, so they can contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of Ghana.
He revealed that the VET Toolbox project prominently aligns with Strategic objectives of the Authority’s Medium – Term Development Strategy known as the Agenda For Rapid Transformation and Job Creation.

The CEO therefore assured all stakeholders of his personal commitment to execute the obligations under the MoU to the slightest detail to achieve its set targets and objectives.
