Baba Alhassan Reiterates Intention To Unseat Former Minority Leader

A Parliamentary Candidate Aspirant of the New Patriotic Party has affirmed his resolve to dislodge Haruna Iddrisu from his position as Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency.

According to Alhaji Baba Alhassan, the former minority has nothing to show for his constituents for his many years in Parliament as a lawmaker, hence the need for him to step aside for another person to take over and deliver development to the people.

Alhaji Baba Alhassan, a student with University for Development Studies, who is hoping to contest the 2024 election as NPP PC for Tamale South said this when he filed his nomination papers on Monday[August 7] to signal, formally, his intention to go head to head with Lawyer Haruna iddrisu.

Many have doubted the ability of the Baba Alhassan to mount a formidable challenge against the five-term MP who has made the Tamale south a no go area for the NPP but the aspiring candidate said he is battled ready and should he be made parliamentary candidate of his party, he will ensure the former minister of communication suffers a humiliating defeat in next year’s polls.

He noted that for the NPP to win the Tamale South, they should make him the party’s parliamentary candidate and he will win in 2024 against Hon. Iddrisu.

Baba Alhassan said the people of Tamale South have grown discerning in recent years and will no longer accept less for their efforts and so voting him will ensure the empowerment of youth and women, improvement of road infrastructure, support to farmers and scholarship to ensure less privileged students have access to education.

For Hajj Baba Alhassan to have his desire to contest Haruna Iddrisu, he would have to first see of the fierce contest from three other candidates vying for the party’s parliamentary but the UDS student while addressing an enthusiastic crowd of young people and women dismissed the chances of all his opponents, saying the primaries is his to win.

He therefore appealed to delegates to rally behind his bid to ensure the NPP wins the Tamale South seat for the first time in many years.
