SAVELUGU: NPP PC Tours Constituency, Inspects Infrastructure Projects
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Savelugu constituency, embarked on a comprehensive tour of the area yesterday, engaging with chiefs and residents while inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly road rehabilitation efforts.
During her tour, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz took stock of the progress on various road projects, including the reshaping of the Disiga-Sakpuli-Dikpung road, which is part of a 120km network earmarked for rehabilitation under an initiative sponsored by the candidate.
In an interview, Hajia Fatahiya emphasised the importance of these infrastructure initiatives in facilitating easier access for both human and vehicular traffic, revealing that her focus was to improve transportation for farmers to market centers, thereby reducing post-harvest losses.
Among the road reshaping projects highlighted by the NPP candidate are the Saana-Nambagla, Kadia-Saana, Diare-Safam, Diare-Adaayili, Gbanga-Yoggu, and Dinga-Adayili roads.
Additionally, Hajia Fatahiya disclosed plans for the commencement of work on the Savelugu-Kumbungu road, which has been awarded to three contractors. She said following a meeting, the contractors have assured her of their readiness to mobilize and begin work soon.
The road projects form part of Hajia Fatahiya’s broader vision to enhance the lives of constituents, which includes initiatives such as providing potable drinking water and electricity. These efforts aim to uplift the socio-economic status of the people in the Savelugu constituency.
In addition to inspecting infrastructure projects, the NPP candidate also visited Electoral Commission limited registration centers to interact with officials and first-time voters. While expressing satisfaction with the turnout, she called on the Electoral Commission to address network challenges that hindered registration efforts.
