MION : More Communities to be Connected to Electricity

The Member of Parliament for Mion Constituency has dispatched electric poles to Kpukpalgu, Yenkazia and Tuwuah, all communities in the Mion District to facilitate the connection of those areas to the national grid.

Since becoming MP in 2020, Hon. Musah Abdul Aziz, has succeeded in connecting some 36 communities to electricity, bringing relief to many constituents, especially women, who travel long distances on daily basis to patronise electricity empowered services.

The Deputy Minister for Fisheries has already commissioned electricity for the 36 communities and hope to commission four communities including Kukpalgu, Yenkazia, Tuwuah and Bachaborido, bringing total number of communities connected to power before election 2024.

Before Hon. Abdul Aziz became MP for Mion, five people were had served as lawmakers for Constituency, one from the CPP and four from the NDC. The five people combined managed to connect just 25 out of 172 communities to the national grid.

Available Data at VRA/NEDCo, indicate that the Mion District, despite the gains, is still lagging behind when it comes to access to electricity. Hon. Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba has indicated his resolve to continue working tooth and nail to ensure more communities are connected to electricity.
