Yendi MP Mourns death of NPP Activist

The Member of Parliament for Yendi Constituency, has conveyed his deep sorrow over the death of Hudu Abdul Rashid, affectionately known as Agyekum, NPP activist and member of the Northern Patriots Movement. Rashid, who, Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama, described in a tribute as his friend and key supporter was reportedly killed last night following a milieu between him and a local taskforce, formed and tasked to curb the sale and use of hard drugs.

Unconfirmed reports from Yendi indicate Agyekum met his untimely death after the taskforce stormed his store to seize some drugs allegedly being sold by the decease. A violent confrontation with the taskforce led to the deceased sustaining head severe head injuries which eventually caused his death.

Hon. Farouk Aliu Mahama in extending his condolences to the immediate family and loved ones called upon the Police to conduct a thorough investigation into incidents surrounding Agyekum’s death. The lawmaker stressed the necessity for a justifiable conclusion, saying Rashid Agyekum’s killing should not be business as usual. Hon. Faouk called for accountability and justice to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Recognizing the collective grief of the community, the MP called for calm and urged everyone to unite in support of the bereaved family.

“Even in our pain, let us calmly come together in unity to offer support to the family as we mourn the loss of this valued member of society,” he stated.
