I Made $1m Before 40 and Lost It All Before 50 Due to Indiscipline – Joe Jackson

The Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Microfinance, Mr. Joe Jackson, has revealed that although he made his first million dollars before turning 40, he lost everything before he reached 50 due to indiscipline.
Speaking at the maiden Men’s Conference held in Tamale under the auspices of the Martha Inspires Foundation, the economist and software engineer recounted how poor personal decisions nearly ruined his life.

Mr. Jackson said he founded a software company, Softribe, in 1991 and sold his shares in 2003 for a million dollars—an achievement he chalked before age 40.
However, he disclosed that a lack of discipline and “ill actions” caused him to lose his entire fortune before he hit 50.
“Indiscipline didn’t only cost me my wealth; it also brought me several health-related challenges,” he said, adding that at age 61, he now values good health as his greatest success.

Mr. Jackson urged men to stop making excuses or blaming others for their failures. He encouraged them to cultivate positive attitudes, stay disciplined, and take full responsibility for their actions. Using his own life as a lesson, he noted that when he lost his fortune, he blamed no one but himself.

“I went back to work, and by the grace of God, I clawed back everything I lost and even more,” he stated.
The conference, themed “Amplifying the Voices of Men, Inspiring Growth,” aimed to empower men to remain strong leaders in their households while also embracing emotional vulnerability when necessary.

Executive Director of the Martha Inspires Foundation, Martha Anabila, explained that the event sought to provide inspiration, mentorship, and a space for men to discuss their struggles openly.
Several speakers also addressed the emotional, social, and financial challenges men face, urging them to seek support when overwhelmed. The event attracted youth groups, professional associations, students, and members of the general public.

Participants were taken through mentorship and educational sessions focused on improving productivity and personal development.
