Tamale Teaching Hospital Denies Oxygen Shortage Allegations

Management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has assured the public that the facility has adequate oxygen supply to support all clinical services, dismissing claims circulating on social media about a shortage at the hospital.

In a press release issued on March 6, 2026, the hospital said it had taken note of a Facebook post alleging that the facility was experiencing an oxygen shortage.

However, management emphasized that there is currently no disruption to oxygen availability within the hospital.

According to the statement, one of the hospital’s oxygen plants is currently undergoing technical repairs, but this has not affected the hospital’s capacity to supply oxygen to patients.

Management explained that the hospital has other oxygen plants that remain fully operational and continue to supply oxygen for clinical use.

The hospital further indicated that it maintains partnerships with external institutions that can provide support during periods when any of its oxygen plants are down.

It also clarified that contrary to claims made in the social media post, the hospital does not owe any of the companies mentioned in the allegation.

Management therefore stressed that patient care at the hospital remains uninterrupted and that no clinical service has been affected due to the alleged oxygen shortage.

While acknowledging the role of the media and the public in bringing issues to attention, the hospital urged stakeholders to seek clarification through appropriate channels before circulating information that could create unnecessary anxiety or misrepresent the situation.

The Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to patient safety, professionalism, and integrity in the delivery of healthcare services.
