SAVANNAH: YEA Disburses Funds To Trainers of Youth In Textile and Garment Module
The Youth Employment Agency in the Savannah Region has disbursed funding support to five selected trainers for the Garment and Textile module of the agency. The beneficiary trainers are Karimoachi Enterprise, SS Borisa Enterprise, Rahi Enterprise, Tusoona Shop and Damankung Family Enterprise.
They each received a cheque of a Ghc 18,570, a support meant to help the beneficiaries to expand their tailoring shops and create an environment that enables them to train three apprentices each, for a two-year period, with monthly allowances paid to the trainees by the Youth Employment Agency.
Mr. Raphael Akati Mahama, who presented the cheques to trainers on behalf of the YEA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kofi Baah admonished the Trainers to ensure the money is used strictly for its intended purpose. He said it was a privilege to be part of changing the success stories of young people, hence the need to execute the programme with the seriousness and commitment it deserves.
The module aims at bridging the skill gaps as well as creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people interested in tailoring or dressmaking and ultimately contributes towards growth and development.
It has been designed carefully to afford beneficiaries the opportunity to receive in-depth knowledge and hands-on training in various aspects of tailoring and dressmaking including fabric selection, cutting techniques, sewing, garment construction, pattern making and alterations.
