Haruna and Muntaka Left Out of NDC Campaign

The Functional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the party’s national campaign team for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

The team, announced on Tuesday, is made of various notable names including Party’s national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah. conspicuously missing however is the name of former Minority Leader and Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu, and Former Minority Chief whip and MP for Asawase, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak.

The two, are believed to be left out of the campaign as a result of longstanding impasse between them and the current leadership of the party. Their absence, especially that of Haruna Iddrisu, has attracted public discussions with many wondering why he has not made the team, even though, he is among the opposition party’s best campaigners.

The leader of the team is General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, as the Campaign Coordinator and would be deputized by Joseph Yammin, who will also be in charge of regional campaigns.

In a statement announcing the team, the general secretary, Fifi Kwetey noted that the national campaign team will work under the guidance of a Campaign Steering Committee headed by the party’s national chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

The statement also noted that, “the National Campaign Team and Steering Committee shall all work under the leadership of the flag-bearer of the party, H.E. John Dramani Mahama and report to the Functional and National Executive Committees of the party in the discharge of their duties”.
